Are you interested in Green politics and in the European Union? Would you like to know better the EU institutions and their political work? Have you followed the European Parlaiment elections and would like to know more about what happens with EU politics post-elections? Want to understand some keys policies and the Green stands from inside? Then apply now to participate in this seminar of the Green European Foundation and get acquainted to the EU level of policy making!

This three day seminar – already a traditional offer by GEF, this year being its 5th edition – will give you an overview of the different European institutions – you will learn about their functions, their competences and their roles in the EU-level decision making processes. The seminar gives you the opportunity to meet and discuss with people working for various EU institutions or other Brussels-based organisations and to get familiar with the European political debates and its Green actors. The program is also focused on a number of key-policy areas (focused on the future of the EU’s economic and political integration) that will be presented and discussed with European experts.

This seminar is an opportunity for Green activists to meet their European level counterparts and to learn more about the work of the European Green Party, the Greens/EFA group in the Parliament and the Green European Foundation. At the same time, of course, it is also the opportunity to meet many interesting new people, to discuss and share experiences.

The seminar will take place in Brussels, between the 11th and 13rd of September 2014 (3 working days). The working language will be English.

Participation We are currently looking for 25 participants interested in taking part in this course. Ideally, participants should:

 Have a general interest in European Union politics and in Green politics at the EU level

 Be open to group discussions and participation in various group debates

 Be able to make themselves understood in English

 Be communicative, open-minded, eager to learn from each other’s experiences

 Be willing to do a small assignment for the preparation of the seminar before the seminar itself

 Be involved in Green activism (young greens, green-minded NGOs, green parties etc) at either the local, regional or national level

 Be willing to act as multipliers in their home organisation on issues discussed within the seminar (share information etc)

 Come from a state that is member of the Council of Europe and has a Green organisation member of the European Green Party

 Gender and regional balance will be taken into account when selecting the participants.

How to apply?

Applications for the course are accepted only through filling in the on-line application form. The deadline for applications is July 20th 2014 (midnight, CET). Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

Costs

The Green European Foundations will reimburse the travel costs of participants and will cover the costs of accommodation and meals throughout the seminar, in exchange of a participation fee of 100 euro (for students/unemployed: 60 euro).
